Drawing

Reflecting on previous works that I have produced this year, I have set about starting a new drawing. I plan to extend the process I used in July (https://www.laurensimons.art/post/install-and-artist-statement) and create a series of drawings where I can confidently use the term "I don't know".

I don't know what I am creating. I don't know what it will look like. All I know is the techniques, materials, and processes that I will be using, at the time of using them. In a way, the final outcome is left to chance. There is no knowing what the work will look like until I have finished. Even then, I have the opportunity to shuffle the drawings into various install layouts, so it will only be when the work is installed on the walls/in a space that the drawings will be fully complete.

With this BOW I want to let my neurodivergent way of seeing and thinking to take shape. I will use it as a tool. Not only will I be using the pages to draw on, but I will be using the pages as my notepad, jotting down notes as I am drawing, writing down my thoughts, doing little doodles. It will be a mind-map, a documentation of what happens in my head.

I will still play with layers and use the CMY and RGB colour systems that run throughout my practice.
