Thoughts

I have been wanting to try something a little different for a while now. Throughout the many years of my art practice, there have been two constants that have continuously ran through my process of working.

The first; I have a desk that I do not use. My desk has always been used as a place of storage rather than a work area. I like to work on the floor, either layed down or sat down. I find it a much more comfortable way to work as I can position myself so that my body works with the drawings I do rather than working against them. I find that sitting in a chair is too restrictive and doesn't allow for the soft movements of my arms, wrists, and fingers, which is often reflected in my soft drawings.

The second; due to working on the floor, I use my studio walls as support. I pin my working surface (paper/canvas) onto the walls and allow my drawings to overflow off the working surface onto the walls. I use the walls as a pallet, grinding chalk into powder and using sponges and brushes to pick up the powder. I use the walls to clean and dust off my sponges and brushes.

I have been thinking about my studio walls as a canvas. Can I use them directly? Can I install my studio walls as finished works?
