I keep thinking back to the critique and the possibilities raised for future development.
"The critique raised several possibilities for future development. Expanding the scale of the work, both physically and vertically, could intensify the bodily relationship between viewer and installation. There was also discussion around developing the architectural qualities further, potentially through the use of false walls or more immersive spatial structures. These suggestions reinforce the idea that the work functions not only as image-making, but as an environment that viewers move through and physically experience."
This has got me thinking more about various ways I can bring the work away from the gallery walls and into the open space, and how I can invite viewers to move through, in, or around the work.
When thinking back to installing my free standing work, I had come across different formations that I could have placed the boards, as well as structural possibilites. One that stood out to me was standing the boards in a plinth/pillar like formation which would have allowed me to have my drawing on the outside surfaces, but also on the inside surfaces which would employ the audience to walk around the work, as well as move closer and peer into the inside.
I will look into the use of pillars in contemporary arts, as well as see what possibilities this would open up for me.
