Install / Layout Planning

My install space (circled in red and marked with my name) has two parallel facing walls. My initial plan is to install my paintings on the structural wall that adjoins the lift/stairs area, with all the drawings on the mirroring wall.
After having a play around with a few different potential layouts for the drawings (and struggling to make a decision), I moved to new space which I found to be better (highlighted in blue in the image below). This new space felt brighter and had plenty of natural light coming in through the window, and it had a longer wall giving me more area to try out different layouts.

When testing layouts of the drawings I wanted to visualise them in a single row. This had been my initial idea but wanted to visualise other options and so rearranged them into two rows. This option was interesting as I started to see groupings of the drawings that complemented each other and created forms/links and so decided to go back to the single row of works, but in groups. This quickly became my favourited option as it was not only visually appealing but also reflected my contextual ideas. It also felt like a final development of the works as for a fourth time I was piecing together some form of identity.

Out of the three paintings I had brought with me, I felt like I needed to leave this one (left) out of the install. This was due to the pink being ever so slightly too bold, and felt like it created a subtle distraion from the rest of the works.
